Technical SEO Audit Checklist for UAE Websites
Content cannot rank on a broken foundation. Before any keyword or content strategy, a technical audit answers one question: can Google actually crawl, render and index your site the way you intend?
Crawlability and indexing
Start with Google Search Console: check the Pages report for pages excluded from the index and why. Common causes on newer or migrated sites are accidental noindex tags left over from staging, orphaned pages with no internal links pointing to them, and duplicate content without a clear canonical.
- Confirm your XML sitemap is submitted and matches what is actually live
- Check robots.txt is not accidentally blocking important sections
- Make sure canonical tags point to the version of the URL you actually want indexed
Core Web Vitals
Google measures real-world page experience through three metrics: Largest Contentful Paint (loading speed), Interaction to Next Paint (responsiveness — this replaced First Input Delay in 2024), and Cumulative Layout Shift (visual stability). On WordPress sites specifically, plugin bloat and unoptimized images are the most common culprits.
Mobile and bilingual experience
Google indexes the mobile version of your site by default. For UAE audiences that also means checking your Arabic experience specifically, not just assuming it mirrors the English one — text direction, font rendering and navigation should all be tested in Arabic, not inferred from the English build.
If you serve both English and Arabic audiences, pair this checklist with our guide to hreflang for Arabic and English sites. For local visibility on top of a clean technical base, see local SEO for Dubai businesses or our full SEO services in Dubai.
